A: The Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) has undergone a major renovation project that expanded its exhibit space by more than one-third — from 146,000 to over 200,000 square feet — within the existing footprint. The ballroom increased by 10,000 square feet, up to 40,000 square feet.

The decision to close the facility was based on the safety and the quality of visitor experience, as well as the fact that closure will reduce construction time by approximately one year and ensure the project stayed on budget.

A: The "new" convention center is to be filled with glass and flooded with light, creating an inviting open-air environment for those inside and outside the facility. The sustainable design will promote energy and water efficiency.
